A day at Canadensis has a little bit of everything and something for everyone! Combining structure with choice, campers enjoy a well rounded schedule but also personalize each day with individual choices. Our program grows with the campers as they move up in age group each summer by giving older campers more elective periods their scheduled day. |

We feel that camp is a place to experience so many wonderful and different activities and our daily schedule reflects that, incorporating Athletics, Water Sports, Outdoor Adventure and the Arts each day. And, what better way to do all these activities than with your friends! At Canadensis, most of a camper’s day is spent with other campers their own age out on the fields and courts, in the pools, on beautiful Lake Lenape and its surroundings or in the Art Center. They will be exposed and introduced to it all! Keeping with this spirit, all of our Program Area Directors and their staff are responsible for putting together activity plans that are fun, safe and age appropriate with the understanding that the focus is on participation and having a good time.
Individual electives allow for campers to define a little bit of their day and receive more specialized instruction. Campers choose from a wide assortment of electives as we want to ensure that everyone has something they enjoy participating in. Campers can keep the same electives for the entire summer or decide to change them on a weekly basis. After dinner is Free Play, a time when campers can continue to participate in their favorite activities.
Every night, the “icing on the cake” to a great day at camp ends with an Evening Activity which is a creative, entertainment style activity. Some Evening Activities involve the entire camp where others are done by age group. Most of them are also co-ed, allowing brothers, sisters, and friends to see each other in a supervised environment. While there are traditional Evening Activities every summer, new and imaginative ideas are being integrated all the time. Some Evening Activities of summers past are Canadensis Idol, Fear Factor, Bling Your Bunk, Dancing With The Staff, Canadensis And The Candy Factory, Panic!, Pool and Lake Parties, Ms. Canadensis, MTV Night and Campfires. Over the summer, we also bring in a number of professional entertainers for the camp to enjoy as well as take the campers out of camp and go to the movies, bowling, and minor league baseball and football games.

Once a week, a Special Day (typically Wednesdays) is mixed into the fold of our Activity Schedule. The morning is a “lazy wake-up,” which allows campers to sleep in a bit later. Morning activities on this day are usually one that includes an entire age group. In the afternoon, it’s an all camp activity such as Carnival Day, Revolutionary War Day (on the Fourth of July), our Annual Charity Fun Run or the Canadensis Book of World Records Day. Of course, one of the most Special Events of camp is when COLOR WAR breaks! Color War is a five-day, high spirited, camper driven competition between Blue and Gold and involves all of camp’s activities. The five days culminate with our annual Sing.

The Inter-Camp Experience: Camp Canadensis is part of the Pike County Athletic Association, which allows campers to participate in inter-camps in athletics against camps in the surrounding area. Campers can choose to be on teams in any of the following athletic areas: Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Hockey, Lacrosse, Swimming, Tennis, Gymnastics, Dance, Rock Climbing, Chess and Ping-Pong. All campers have the opportunity to be on at least one inter-camp team (in other words, there are no cuts). At the same time, all campers on teams will have a fair amount of playing time in games (simply, everyone gets to play). In these games, we want our campers to try their best and play hard, but the emphasis is never about the final score…it’s about having a fun time and representing Canadensis with good sportsmanship and spirit!
